Most fashion trends, by their very nature, have short life spans. There are, however, a select few that truly stand the test of time, transcending seasons, essentially becoming ‘basics’, and accentuating any look. So don’t feel guilty about splurging on these ‘necessities!’

SNEAKERS

I love how sneakers have evolved beyond their original athleisure/activewear function, moving into the casual ‘street’ and ‘high fashion’ categories, and becoming the ultimate, versatile form of footwear. Put away those uncomfortable heels and slip your feet into some luxe trainers. Pair it back with basic tees and relaxed jeans, patterned skirts or floral dresses. So many styles and colours available, though you can never go wrong with classic white sneakers! Some of my favourite are Converse, Spring Court, Celine & Mason Margiela.

LEATHER JACKET

With summer coming to an end, we need to prepare our wardrobes for a cooler change. Nothing beats an edgey moto leather jacket to create an effortless cool vibe. Leather jackets can be dressed up or down, paired with a graphic tee and relaxed denim jeans or worn over a soft floral dress even a ball gown. So versatile & chic you can’t go wrong. Pick a style and colour and own it. You don’t have to go big brands like Acne to find some great buys. Zara and General Pants also carry a great range.

DENIM, DENIM, DENIM

Never dating, always on trend. A great pair of fitted jeans will last the test of time! But, if you are a little bored of your current collection and don’t want to spend thousands on Vetements jeans, don’t fret, because stores like Top Shop and Zara carry on trend, quality denim perfect for refreshing your wardrobe. High waisted, straight leg and slouchy will always prevail, in my opinion.

STATEMENT JEWELLERY

Nothing says more than a statement pair of earrings paired back with a simple shirt or turtle neck. A beautifully crafted necklace over a simple tee will always give an instant luxe to an outfit. Be bold and let your personality shine through, but be careful not to wear too many conflicting, high volume pieces (avoid a Metallica moment)! My tip is pick one piece and let it do all the talking. Some of my go-to brands for jewellery are: J. Crew, Saint Laurent, Chanel, Marni & Top Shop.
