Changing one’s style and wardrobe can be very confronting. And to be honest with you, you really need to be ready for it. As we all know, change can impact us in a way that is not necessarily positive.

We all have repeat offenders in our wardrobe. It’s the outfits we put on when we can’t be bothered and sometimes we would even have the attitude “if it ain’t broke white fix it”.

As we move through the decades, what I have found is, some people will continue to dress as a teenager even though they are in the late 40s. It’s also easy to continue to wear clothing that is ill-fitting, because we’re putting ourselves last when it comes to empathy and care. As a mother myself, I realise how easy it is to do this when you have no time, no help and deadlines to meet with work.

One of the great business women of our time, Adrianna Huffington, said so eloquently, how she escorts her digital devices out of her bedroom prior to going to sleep. I believe all of us need to do that along with the following:

  • Clothes that are worn at the collar, cuff or hem
  • Jumpers that are starting to show a balling effect
  • Jeans that have too many tears and holes in them
  • Shoes that need to be resoled
  • Jewellery where the material has tarnished
  • Any make up or hair care that has gone past its used by date
  • Any accessories that have lost stones or has faded
  • Clothes that have tears, moth holes or pulls in them
  • Is any clothing that is stained

All of the above need consideration in being thrown out, to make room for a new and more modern item to enhance your image.
