THE MEANING OF COLOUR
How we dress is one of the highest forms of non-verbal communication.
And as we all know, absolutely dictates what kind of mood we’re in.
The easy go-to piece is black – and thank goodness for Chanel’s little black dress, because it gave us permission to dress in black without feeling like we were on our way to a funeral…every day.
But have you really thought of how communicating with colour can affect the person sitting in front of you. If you have not noticed, Elka is grandly fond of orange. Orange is the colour of social communication and optimism…more power to our fearless leader!
If you dressing in yellow, it is the colour of intellect and a strong mindset. It is clearly optimistic and cheerful, as you would expect from the largest flower in the world, the sunflower.
Blue is the colour of trust and peace. We trust it so much because we’re constantly in view of it with the sky and the sea. It suggests loyalty, integrity and a good dose of conservatism.
Purple is the colour of sovereignty and imagination. As you would’ve seen, Hillary Clinton wore purple in her final address to her congregation, even though she had lost to the presidential election she stood with maturity and reverence.
To be true to the Bohemian genre, turquoise is the colour for clarity of mind. It is spiritual and also peaceful and a sign of a strong communicator. It is a beautiful colour that’s established with the indigenous Indians in United States, powerful and strong.
Silver and Gold have wonderful meanings to them. Silver has a feminine energy and is related to the moon; fluid and emotional. Gold is the colour of success, triumph, prestige and elegance, which is why many women from ancient civilisations adorned themselves in this mineral.
