1. First thing in the morning when you wake up, do you look at your phone? If so, what do you search?
The first thing I do when I wake up is check on my son and let our pet parrot out of her cage to have her morning exercise.

2. Are you a coffee or tea drinker and what kind?
I am a committed tea totaller. My absolute favourite is Green Tea with Jasmine, but have a long list of others teas which I love to drink.

3. You always imagined growing up you’d be?
Growing up my ambition shifted from, wanting to be a vet, a neonatal nurse, a pastry chef to running my own business that had some involvement in food

4. Flowers By Fruit came about from…
Having a coffee (or in my case a tea) with a friend. We were chatting about how I had reached my career cross roads and how I wanted to do something for myself and it had to be with food. He told me about edible gifts and what a great opportunity he thought it would be for someone like me. That night I researched everything my friend had told me, fell in love with the idea and the rest, as they say, is history.

5. When women are negative it makes you…
Sad. I would love to live in a world where all women can be positive towards themselves and well as others. None of us are perfect, but we’re all a work of art. I try to remind myself when negative thoughts try to creep in that it’s our imperfections that make us the individuals we are and special to those that love us.

6. When women support one another you…
Feel proud. We should help others reach their dreams if possible. Encouragement, advice or simply a supportive shoulder can be the difference between someone giving up or persisting to overcome their hurdles.

7. One thing you keep close to your chest (until now is)…
My fear of failure.

8. To all those women who are negative on social media you’d say…
PLEASE DON’T. You have no idea how your words can hurt another.

9. If you could express one piece of QueenHood advice to working women you would say…
Don’t forget to be kind to yourself. Women can be very harsh critics of themselves when in actual fact we should be celebrating who we are!

10. The never ending quest for balance between work life and family life you take on by…
This is still a work in progress, however, we never work on Sunday’s, that is our family day. Work stays at work, so when I get home I give my son the attention he needs and deserves. On the odd occasion when I need to put in the extra work hours, I do it after he has gone to bed. My gorgeous dog Hendrix, forces me to take him for walks even when I am tired. This has been one of the best things for me mentally. My time (out) with my dog allows me to unwind mentally and get a better night’s sleep, thus waking up refreshed. Who knew!

11. The Idea of Flowers By Fruit came when you had a tiny baby how did you juggle this…
This was very tough, as the business was 3 years old when my precious little angel was born. I am very blessed with an awesome family support network headed up by my amazing mother whose help keep me sane and the business going. I remember coming to work with Andrew (who’s now 7 and a half) strapped into a Baby Bjorn working alongside my team at 5.30am to get Christmas orders out. Outside of family we had to hire an extra couple of casual and part time staff to allow me some flexibility to adjust to being a first time mum.

12. When you’re in work mode you are best described as…
Focused. As a working mum, my time has become even more precious so I need to be extra efficient at work to ensure that when I get home, I can dedicate my time to my son and family.

13. The legacy you hope to leave is…
That I have been able to make a positive impact on the lives of people who I have been fortunate to meet.
